I am vegetarian but know I am not eating properly; any advice for a more nutritional diet?

Hi,
I am vegetarian, I have been for the past four years. I am female. I OCCASIONALLY take some supplements such as 'iron' or 'b12' but not regularly :S

I do eat 3 fruits and at least 2 veg a day; generally have muesli with yogurt in the morning, salad, drink 2-3L of water. and have one egg at least once a week (i know its not enough)...

You see, (i know its not an excuse but that's why i am asking) buying and cooking vegetarian "meats" like tofu and quorn is hard when you're the only one in the family as it tends to go off before you can use the whole packet and thus it is a complete waste. But I am willing to ignore this fact and fix the problem so as to eat better.

I think my REAL problem, or the reason I know that I am not eating correctly, is my unnatural craving for chocolate - if I knew it wouldn't make me fat I would eat it all day every day. I have weeks where I'll eat a block (about 100g) a day easily ....and I think I am simply missing something nutritional that i may be finding (even if in small doses) in chocolate.

MY QUESTION TO YOU IS: do you have any tips, any advice, any websites (potentially free nutritionists online) who can help my diet get back on track so I dont eat insane amounts of chocolate and get all the nutrients i need that i dont get in meat.

Please dont call me an idiot nor suggest I start eating meat - I acknowledge my bad eating habits and am here to change them :)

I look forward to your advice...
Best wishes.

You dont sound too unhealthy to be honest with you. I've been veggie for 8 years and I get my protein from pulses, like lentils etc. Beans are also good and very cheap. So I normally make up a batch of veggie chilli with kidney beans, quorn and loads of veg and then freeze whatever i dont eat. This way you get a lot of meals for a little amount of money plus its really easy to defrost so it makes it more appealing to eat that rather than chocolate. Meat also contains iron, which can be found in dark green, leafy veg. Zinc is present in nuts and seeds. But tbh, most meat eaters dont exactly have a perfect diet anyway, i've eaten terribly while i've been at uni and had my blood checked and im perfectly fine so dotn worry too much about it.
